I realize this runs the risk of sounding completely self-absorbed, but I hope it’s just the kind of simple curiosity that everyone would have: why does Twitter’s interface become completely useless once you pass a certain number of RTs and/or favorites on a particular tweet?
This happens:

It's love.
Jeffrey: Jayden and Preston?
Me: Aren’t those Britney Spears’ kids’ names?
Jeffrey: *head tilt* Yes.
Me: We BOTH knew that, don’t you judge me.
I have opinions.
Last night we watched two episodes of Shark Tank, a reality show where entrepreneurs pitch their young businesses to a panel of “sharks” - businesspeople who also started small and are now bazillionaires (like the guy who owns FUBU). It was fascinating.
On the first episode that we watched, there was a set of sisters who pitched their business “Tippi Toes” (GAG) which is...

Stop writing articles about how articles have been written debating whether women are funny. Stop writing articles about how women were funny on SNL this year in some noteworthy female-centric sketches.
YOU SOUND LIKE A BUNCH OF MORONS!

I have 16 artists at the booth for Em City ComicCon. 1200 pounds of merch, give or take. Plus, I’m bringing both of my kids.
What the fuck am I even doing.

The other day, my dude and I had an extensive brainstorm to come up with a verb that describes the (super annoying) act of telling an looong anecdote about a TV show or movie that the other person has not seen. Eventually, we settled on “rerunning,” as in, “Ugh, her. She reruns all the goddamn…

Sometimes I get asked advice about drawing comics. The benefits you’ll get from asking are akin to shouting your own name into a bin, in so much that it’s probably not going to change anything about your current lifechoices. I can give you all the advice in the world but it’s not going to give you…
Everyone, shut up for a minute and listen to Jamie.
Grown-up quote of the day
adulting:
“It’s not the honors and the prizes and the fancy outsides of life which ultimately nourish our souls. It’s the knowing that we can be trusted, that we never have to fear the truth, that the bedrock of our very being is good stuff.”

What if we stopped saying, “webcomics” and “webcartoonist” and just said “comics” and “cartoonist”? Would you say, “black actor” or “female athelete” or “male nurse”? What if we take the personal responsibility to put ourselves in the same professional category as the people who are using “webcomic” as...

My workstation uses a news outlet as its browser’s home page. It makes me feel annoyed on a good day (and I chose it for myself). Today the top stories addressed GOP candidates, how they’re polling, what it means.
And then it started in on their wives, and the Obama family, and Michele Bachman….

I haven’t cooked dinner in a week. I probably won’t until Christmas Eve. I just stopped at the grocery and bought six Newman’s Own pasta dinners in a bag, four boxes of Annie’s mac and cheese, bagels, dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, soup, bread, 15 greek yogurts and a case of tangerines (so the kids wont get scurvy, I guess?). I feel incredibly guilty, the kids think...

Me:….. and there’s dumplings in the freezer.
E: THERE’S DUMPLINGS IN YOUR FREEZER
Me: Right. I just said that.
E: THERE’S DUMPLINGS IN YOUR BUTT.
Me: No, there’s not.
E: BUTT DUMPLINGS DUMPLING BUTT BUTT
Me: Now you’re just saying words.
E: APPLE PIE! LIGHT BULB!
This is what I live with, people.

The *only* reason I would want to live in the LA area is to go to all the fucking cool comedy shows and live podcasts. This one looks particularly good - and MARGARET CHO? She’s like, my hero.

Late to the thankful party
I really like all the posts the’ve been doing about being thankful for all the wonderful things in their lives. Since we’re halfway through the month, I’m going to do a brief rundown of 15, to catch up. I need this today, my anxiety is off the charts. (You ever get the numb hands? Yeah that’s a good time.)
In no particular order, here are my first 15. Some are from my...

Got an email from an aspiring artist who was asking for advice on how to get noticed , how to get attention for work that ISN’T essentially fanart. I guess the experience on their end is that when they do original pieces, the response is hardly a spark of what they get when they do something…

I spend a lot of time in my professional life trying to be as succinct as possible; emails, product descriptions, artist bios, etc. I feel like I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Now I’m taking classes and I am expected to write long papers and essays. I was assigned two things today. I have to write a page on why I think an infographic is good. A page. Can you have that many thoughts on...

Dork Etiquette
It is almost time for San Diego Comic Con; the biggest, most important nerd convention of the entire year. Thousands of people come from all over and pack into a gigantic convention center that barely holds us all. We are shoulder to giant foam sword with our dork brethren, both in celebration of all that we love and competition to get the signed numbered exclusive figure of choice. We are there...
